Abstract:
Assuming arrival of humans in Ireland not before 9 000 BP, hunters cannot be blamed for elk's extinction there. Evidence is adduced that climatic worsening caused reduction of the spring green-up crucial to the survival of such a large animal with its extra-large antlers.
