Sets out general principles regarding the general role of museums, making recommendations on levels of local authority museum provision, funding of national armed services and university museums, the duties of national museums, the MGC Registration Scheme, training provision, the legal status of publicly held collections, the need for forward planning, support for nationally important collections, coordination of collecting policies, and the overall role that should be adopted by the DNH.
