Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken on development within the area of a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The area affected contained parts of the site of a medieval castle. Levelling and the laying of concrete in the 1970s damaged the bank of this monument; the development was located within this previously developed area. It appeared likely that clayey layers observed were the remains of the bank, and that a ditch was also represented. However, not enough ground was exposed to gain significant information about either the nature and date of the bank or about occupation in the area. AIP
