Abstract:
A watching brief was carried out during construction work on the west bank of the River Cocker, at a site which possibly lay within the core of medieval Cockermouth. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified. It was concluded that, had any features existed at this location, it was probable that the strong currents, which characterised this stretch of the river, would have destroyed them. [AIP]
