Abstract:
The author assesses the evidence for the chronology of the earliest occupation of Eurasia, and compares it to that of the evolution of global and regional climates and ecologies, as well as hominin evolution itself with the aim of understanding how, and because of which factors of change, the earliest occupation of the various parts of Eurasia occurred. Includes a chapter on 'A veil of handaxes: a 'scatters and patches' approach to the Acheulean landscape at Boxgrove, Sussex and beyond'.
