Abstract:
The excavations in the medieval village of Carlton failed to produce any evidence of medieval activity. Only a few sherds of medeival pottery were recovered from 12 trenches. This lack of medieval activity from what 19th century maps showed to be a classic medeival village plan was cause for futher investigation. [AIP]
